Moving Kitchen Cabinets Up To Ceiling

Place the boards vertically as you want them to go over your cabinets.
The cabinets should be reinforced along the top two inches or so that is where the screw needs to go. If you have 9 foot tall ceilings you can choose to fill the available 54 inches of wall space with one row of 36 inch tall cabinets with a row of 18 inch cabinets above them. To hide the gap on the sides where the cabinets met the wall i used white caulk. To be honest when i painted the walls white i wasn t sure what the i was.
Cut your board to that length. I laid out some more details about why we painted the walls white in this post and it really brightened up the room sooooo much. Since the cabinets are so close to the ceiling you won t be able to screw them in from above the cabinets like they were before you are going screw them in from the inside. Cut as many of these as you want we did 4.
Recall for a moment what our kitchen looked like just a couple weeks ago. Trimming the cabinets when we put the cabinets back on the wall we put them all the way up against the ceiling but we were still left with a little gap between the cupboards and the ceiling. Use a nail gun to nail through the boards into the cabinets and ceiling. Measure from the top of your cabinet to the ceiling.
