Remove the screws and tap out the center board.
Begin by cutting 2 wide stiles 1 8 longer than the dimension from the toe kick cutout to the top of the case 31 in this case. On our cabinet the bottom of the center stile is secured to the cabinet with pocket screws. Cut the top of the center stile with the cabinet saw or jam saw. Cut away the lips on two sides then reposition the guides to cut away the other two.
If the panel is stuck a few light hammer taps will free it. Cut your face frame parts. Please do not try this if you are not comfortable making these adjustments. Then using a sharp blade and a straight edge score the veneer.
Besides you need to dado the back to provide a recessed shelf for. If you can cut all the way through you can probably remove the veneer before you attempt to sand down the stub. When the center was removed we screwed the center piece to one of the doors using the mark as a guide. Typically pocket screws are 2 square drive.

Definitely cut the stile so as to leave a bit of wood behind on the cabinet. You ll also cut the middle rail beneath the drawers 2 wide.
It s best to install the countertop on the cabinets before cutting the opening. If your door frame has a rectangular opening it s now ready for glass. If it has an arched upper rail cut a square recess above the arch photo 2. You can cut out the center panel with a jig saw or circular saw if you re careful but a router is the cleanest way to do it.
